Meet The Team


Many of the members of the inaugural team have worked together over their college careers as students of University of Memphis’ College of Communication and Fine Arts, but The ROAR is open to any-and-all currently-enrolled University of Memphis students.

In a city where music and art take center stage, the 2022 staff and programmers are proud to join generations of Memphis taste-makers. 




Jeremiah Hall / General Manager

Jeremiah Hall is a senior journalism major at the University of Memphis. He is the student general manager of The ROAR and the AV Editor of the UofM’s news publication, The Daily Helmsman. Jeremiah can also be heard on the UofM’s partner FM station, WYXR. As a third-generation media professional, Jeremiah looks forward to contributing to progress through honest reporting and conversation.

Eva Winfrey / Operations Director

Eva Winfrey is a senior journalism major from Memphis. She’s a content creator that strives to create content that’s enjoyable for everyone. Outside of the university, she produces YouTube videos for a gaming channel. She hopes to become an editorial assistant after graduation. She is currently studying for her EFL teaching certification and hopes to travel the world and pursue travel journalism.

Latavius Bolden / Program Director

Latavius Bolden is a senior journalism major from Memphis. His passion for writing and talking about sports drew Latavius to the Department of Journalism and Strategic Media at the UofM. Because he always enjoys telling a great sports story to anyone that will listen, Latavius has always dreamed of becoming a sports anchor.

Angela Williams / Social Media Director

Angela Michelle Williams is a graduate student studying visual media at the University of Memphis and is looking forward to graduating May 2022. She is also the marketing manager for Buster’s Liquors. Angela has written and produced Sessions With My Therapist, a podcast tackling mental health care issues in the Black community with the goal of erasing stigmas and barriers that keep her community from mental healthcare spaces.

Allen Avant / Production Director

Allen Avant is a senior Journalism Major with a broadcast focus at the University of Memphis. A member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, Allen is also a marketing intern with the Downtown Memphis Commission. Allen plans to pursue a MBA in Marketing. An avid news consumer that loves traveling, Allen loves discovering new music from different genres. He names entertainment reporter and Oscar winner Terrence J as one of his biggest inspirations.

Shane Marizan / Content Director

Shane Marizan is a Junior journalism major at the University of Memphis. He hopes to go into sports talk radio and someday host his own national talk show. Shane’s biggest inspiration is Colin Cowherd who started as a radio sports journalist and moved into opinion sports talk.

BranTheDon / Promotions Director

BranTheDon, formally known as Brandon Justice, is a senior journalism major with an emphasis on broadcast media. His show “TheDonShow” is a music-based show that includes interviews about hot and controversial topics. TheDonShow features all types of music and people from all walks of life. His funny and intriguing point of view brings a new perspective to The ROAR.

Emily Butler / Recruitment Director

Emily Butler is a senior Journalism major at the University of Memphis. She is a transfer student from UT Martin, where she found her passion for broadcasting. She can be heard weekly as the host of On The Brink, The ROAR’s weekly showcase for new and upcoming country artists in Memphis and Nashville.
